Acne affects most people at some point in their life, especially during the teen years, but it is not limited to the teen years. To understand how to fight acne, it’s essential that you know what causes it.
What causes acne?
Acne is caused by natural skin oils, dirt and bacteria that thrives on dirt and oil. Basically, these natural oils combine with dirt on your face and in our environment, which bacteria thrives and multiplies in. When the combination of skin oils and dirt enter our pours, they clog them up and that’s when black heads, spots and pimples appear.
Homemade Oatmeal and Honey Face Mask
This mask is one of simplest homemade masks out there. All it entails is cooking some oatmeal with water, mix it with a splash of honey, apply it onto the face and leave it to work some magic for roughly 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, clean your face with warm water until all traces of the mask are gone.
Why does it work?
To make oatmeal you have to mix it with water, therefore it naturally absorbs water. When you apply it to your skin, it begins to dry out again, and as it dries it begins to absorb all the moisture around it – yep, natural skin oils, dirt and bacteria.
It essentially absorbs all the unwanted elements off your skin and draws dirt out of your pores.
But then the honey comes in, honey is full of nutrients, antioxidants and skin-clarifying ingredients.
It contains a good source of potassium and bacteria cannot live in the presence of potassium. It also contains glycolic acid which maintains smooth skin and prevents premature aging.
Full of natural, nourishing ingredients, this face mask is guaranteed to benefit your skin and hopefully leave you with a smooth, healthy glow.
