It’s Time To Clear Out Your Makeup Bag

By , January 20, 2017

This is something that might not even cross your mind, but clearing out your makeup bag is a must and January is a great time to do it.

If you’re like me you probably don’t even know what’s in your makeup bag and only use half of the products. De-cluttering your makeup bag is a great feeling and when you’re finished you can see the products you actually use, saving you time rooting through everything in future.

The first thing you need to do is take everything out of your makeup bag. Go through each of the products and throw out any you never use, this might seem like a waste but if you don’t use them there is no point having them taking up space in your makeup bag.

Next thing to do is look at the expiry dates. If they are out of date bin them. Certain cosmetics like foundation and lipstick can last for up to 2 years and eyeliners 12 months. Mascara needs to be chucked every 3-6 months to prevent eye infections as bacteria love to hide away in the tubes.

Once you have your products sorted it’s time to tackle cleaning those brushes. This is something people hate doing but if you do it regularly it will take less time as there won’t be a build up of makeup and bacteria lying in the brushes making it impossible for you to clean. No need to run out and buy a specific cleaning product to clean them, all you need is natural soap and warm water. Once washed let them air dry on a towel.

Now that all your brushes are clean and your products are organised there is only one more step and you are good to go. Turn your makeup bag inside out and give it a good clean with baby wipes. If your makeup bag is impossible to clean maybe it’s time to treat yourself to a new one. There are so many different colours and sized bags to choose from you will definitely find one that suits your makeup needs.
