Why It’s So Important To Stay Hydrated

By , August 9, 2014

It’s no secret that you need to drink lots of water to keep hydrated, in fact you should be drinking at least 2 to 3 litres a day.

Unfortunately some people find it hard to drink that volume of pure water and instead revert to fizzy drinks and fruit juices, but here is why need to get serious about keeping hydrated:

1. Smooth youthful looking skin

Aging skin becomes dry and wrinkled with puffy eyes and dark circles for two reasons; water retention and a lack of fat directly underneath the skin. Aside from drinking your 2 or 3 litres of pure water every day, make sure to eat fat daily.

It’s all about eating the right fats; coconut oil, butter, flax seeds and other unprocessed plant oils are what you want to be eating. This fat will help bind the water to your skin, making it function as a natural filler.

On top of that, splash cold water on your a couple of times every morning and drink a chilled glass of water before you eat your breakfast. You will definitely notice the difference in your skin!

2. It will help your digestive system

Keeping yourself hydrated can have a huge impact on how you digest your food. If you’re dehydrated you will end up constipated for days. As a result your stomach will become bloated and bacteria and yeast in your stomach will start to thrive.

Water will keep your body functioning as it should, allowing you to digest and pass food easily.

3. It will help your brain

That seems like a vague statement, but it really will help your brain in a number of ways. First of all, drinking lots of water can boost your concentration levels tremendously. This is especially helpful for those of you with monotonous office jobs who need to stay alert all day long.

As well as that, if you suffer from terrible headaches or migraines a lot of the time the problem is dehydration. In many cases, it has been reported that simply upping water intake has completely resolved any headache problems. Ask anyone who keeps really well hydrated and they will tell you the difference they feel in their general well being.
