Do you find it hard to wind down after a long day at work and get a good night’s sleep? Well not for long once you’ve tried our tips and tricks.
Exercise
Including exercise in your daily routine can really help you get to sleep easier at night. It doesn’t have to be anything strenuous, even just a brisk 20 minute walk will do the trick.
Stick to a Schedule
I know this may be difficult especially around weekends, but where possible going to bed and getting up at the same time everyday will give your body a consistent sleep cycle.
Create a Bedtime Ritual
Have a nice hot shower or bath, read a good book or listen to some relaxing music. You can try and test these and see which works best for you. I know this will be difficult but try keep electronics to a minimum before bed. Some researchers suggest they can interfere with our sleep.
Pay Attention to what you eat and drink
Make sure you don’t go to bed feeling hungry or stuffed as this could affect you falling asleep. Avoid having too many fluids before bed to prevent waking up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet.
Create a Bedroom Sanctuary for Yourself
Make sure you have comfortable bedding to sleep on and curtains that block out the light to encourage a restful night’s sleep. Ear plugs are also great if you are a light sleeper.
Start with even one or two of these tips and you really will see an improvement. You can gradually introduce the rest at your own pace and soon you’ll be having the restful sleep you deserve.
