New Wellness Destination on Ireland’s West Coast

By , April 20, 2026

Opening in May 2026, The Spa at The Hawthorn is set to raise the bar for luxury wellness in Co. Galway. Positioned on a coastal headland near Oranmore, this new spa experience brings together advanced skincare, time-honoured bathing rituals and a strong sense of place rooted in the west of Ireland.

As The Hawthorn prepares to open as part of a €60 million coastal development, its spa is positioned as the property’s ‘soul of wellness’, focused on reconnecting guests with the sea and surrounding landscape.

“The Spa at The Hawthorn is not just about relaxation, but about reconnection,” says CEO Peter Fitzgerald. “Every detail, from our exclusive product partners to the elemental bathing rituals, is designed to offer our guests a sense of calm and connection that mirrors the beauty of the Galway coast.”

Treatments Rooted in Tradition

Two distinct partnerships shape the treatment experience at The Hawthorn.

Maison Caulières will introduce a strong sense of heritage to The Spa’s treatment offering. Drawing on over 300 years of French oil-making expertise, these rituals rich in local plants, flowers and herbs will be used in signature body rituals, massages and bodywork, bringing a deeply sensorial and grounding experience.

Alongside this, The Spa has been named the exclusive Irish home of Tata Harper, a world-renowned pioneer of high-performance, natural luxury skincare. The Spa will debut a curated menu of exclusive Signature Facials that primarily focus on skin health, radiance and long term results.

Inside The Spa at The Hawthorn

Facilities at The Hawthorn reflect a thoughtful, experience-led design. The thermal suite is centred on the therapeutic relationship between heat and water. With Finnish and infrared saunas, a sudatorium, frigidarium ice room, and cold immersion pool, it offers a complete heat and cold contrast experience.

The outdoor seaweed bathing lounge nods to Ireland’s long-standing seaweed bathing tradition. These rituals use marine ingredients known for their detoxifying and skin-nourishing benefits, increasingly sought after in Irish spa experiences.

Beyond treatments, the spa includes a panoramic relaxation lounge, a vitality suite with a light-filled gym, and five treatment suites uniquely named after the granddaughters of owners Peter and Paul Fitzgerald: Megan, Isabella, Auriella, Ellen Rose and Abigail.

The Spa at The Hawthorn signals a confident step forward for spa and wellness in Ireland and delivers a serene experience that today’s spa-goers are actively seeking.
