Christmas Spa Gifts

By , December 15, 2010

What to get the person who has everything this Christmas? No matter how difficult they may be to buy for, there is nobody who will not appreciate a little luxury for a weekend, an afternoon or even just an hour. Pampering means something different to everyone, so we have compiled a list of spa treatments and packages on offer this Christmas with something suited to every taste – whether it’s an opulent full-body experience, a glam manicure, or a round of golf with a little something thrown in after.

Vinotherapy/Chocotherapy
What better way to begin a New Year detox than with some Vinotherapy. If you’ve overdone it at Christmas these alcohol-free treatments use grape and grapevine extracts which are rich in vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants and free-radical fighters to refresh and invigorate. Their active components have some of the best anti-ageing properties of any plant going.

If you know someone who deserves to be wrapped in chocolate this Christmas a Chocotherapy treatment is the perfect present. Chocotherapy uses rich cocoa and chocolate extracts for treatments such as wraps and facials. Chocolate is rich in minerals such as iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, calcium anti-oxidants and anti-radicals. And the best part? There are no calories involved.

Vinotherapy and Chocotherapy treatments are offered at Temple Country Retreat and Spa in Co. Westmeath.

Shellac Manicures
There has been a lot of hype surrounding Shellac manicures as of late, and with good reason. CND’s Shellac polish is the first hybrid nail color that lasts up to two weeks without chipping or scratching. If you know someone with a busy party season ahead then a Shellac Manicure is the way to go, and at around €30 it won’t break the bank.

Shellac Manicures are on offer at The Buff Day Spa in Dublin.

Lomi Lomi Nui & Flotation Treatments
Lomi Lomi Nui is a Hawaiian style of massage designed to relieve tension by using slow sweeping strokes with light pressure to mimic the movement of the ocean. The massage is designed to restore the body’s sense of harmony and natural flow of energy.

Flotation therapy is a luxurious treatment designed to shut out the outside world, healing chronic pain, hypertension, muscle tension, headaches and anxiety. For anyone who has had a stressful year or who is just deserves some well-earned relaxation these treatments are perfect for a Christmas treat.

Lomi Lomi Nui and Flotation Therapy are both offered at Mount Juliet in Kilkenny

For Couples
If you fancy treating yourself as well as your other half then a couple’s package is well worth considering. Brooklodge & Wells Spa in Wicklow offers a range of activities to suit everyone, so she is treated to a massage or facial while himself enjoys some off-road driving or a round of golf. Meet up later on in the day and enjoy the spa’s Serail Bath for two.

The K Club is now selling vouchers for golf tuition with a PGA professional starting at just €90. While you wait, the hotel also offers treatments for men and women in the 5-star K-Spa.

Seoid Spa in Meath is offering a Hammam package for couples, which involves a Couple’s Luxury Body Exfoliation & Scalp Massage and a Sabbia Med Experience for just €60 per person.

Yummy Mummies
Seoid Spa is also offering a pampering Yummy Mummy package for just €100. This includes a Balneotherapy Bath where you will be massaged with warm water and jets of air and water, a Sea Salt Body Exfoliation, Mini Facial and a Dry Flotation treatment – which claims to provide the equivalent to 3 hours of deep sleep. The package includes full use of the spa’s thermal facilities and fitness suite. This package is not suitable for pregnant women but there is a Lady in Waiting package available that is.
