The 10k run will take place on Monday, 3 June, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>A combination of <a href=\"https:\/\/spas.ie\/blog\/eating-for-energy\">healthy eating<\/a> and a good training regime will help get you to the finish line. \u00a0Stay motivated and train with friends for inspiration.<\/p>\n<p>Spas.ie has put together a handy preparation guide ahead of the big day. Regardless of your fitness levels, remember to pace yourself and enjoy the day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Training Sessions<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hit the road<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Aim to train (walk, jog or run) at least 3 or 4 times a week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Training log\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Keep a diary &#8211; record your daily mileage and times.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speed <\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Focus on your pace once a week, \u00a0running faster in shorter times.<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Strength\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Include steep hills in your training regime.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Distance\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Long runs at a comfortable pace will help increase stamina.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Increase<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Intensify your training sessions every week by 10%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mix it up<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Try different physical activities like yoga or spin classes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Music\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Upbeat music while training will help keep you motivated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Listen\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0To your body &#8211; if you are tired take a break, your body needs rest.<\/p>\n<p>Check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.florawomensminimarathon.ie\/\">Flora Mini Marathon<\/a> for more information about this year\u2019s marathon, and good luck on the big day, Spas.ie will see you all there.\u00a0Are you taking part?
